Ruth Rendell Award launched by ALCS & the National Literacy Trust

A new annual award has been launched by the National Literacy Trust and ALCS in memory of bestselling novelist, Ruth Rendell on what would have been her 86th birthday. The Ruth Rendell Award will be presented to the author or writer who has done the most to raise literacy levels in the UK either through their writing and books, or through their advocacy and championing of the cause of literacy. Ruth Rendell was a supporter of the National Literacy Trust since the charity’s launch 21 years ago.

Tinniswood and Imison Awards 2016: Well deserved winners

At this year's awards ceremony for the Tinniswood and Imison Awards for radio writing, Julian Simpson won the ALCS-sponsored Tinniswood Award for the best original audio drama script for his play Fugue State; while Eoin O’Connor took home the Imison Award for a writer new to the medium for his work 30 Eggs.
