A writing competition and class activity for the CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Shadowing Scheme.
ALCS is a long-time supporter of the hugely successful CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals annual shadowing scheme, in which tens of thousands of children in schools and libraries across the country read the books shortlisted for both Medals, argue with each other over which is the best, post reviews and vote for their own favourites, before the official winners are announced.
Each year ALCS devises a creative writing competition in conjunction with the scheme, which aims to encourage children to produce an original piece of writing, while teaching them the value of ownership and copyright. We are always astounded by the number (1,100 in 2016) – and quality – of the entries!
Thank you to all who took part in 2016's The Journey, and many congratulations to our winners and runners-up who captured our imagination with their stories. You can read the brilliant winning stories here.
Look out for our 2017 competition! Details coming soon!
Entrants must be signed up to the CILIP Carnegie and Katie Greenaway Shadowing scheme. Find out how to sign up at http://www.cilip.org.uk/
