Who can join?
If you’ve ever written anything and had it published or broadcast, you can join. Our members include fiction and non-fiction writers, translators, adaptors, scriptwriters, magazine and journal article writers, editors in all genres.
Beneficiaries of estates can also join
Copyright lasts for 70 years after the death of an author, so we also give royalties to the beneficiaries of estates.
UK and overseas writers
We’re mainly a UK organisation. You’re welcome to join if you live overseas, but it might be more convenient for you to join your local collecting society. We have reciprocal agreements with over 55 collecting societies around the world, and we can transfer your money to them if we’ve collected payments for you.
