Okechukwu Nzelu announced as new non-executive ALCS board member
Okechukwu Nzelu is a Manchester-based writer, whose debut novel, "The Private Joys of Nnenna Maloney" won a Betty Trask Award, and was shortlisted for the Betty Trask Prize, the Desmond Elliott Prize and the Polari First Book Prize.
Okechukwu said of his appointment: “I’m so honoured and excited to be joining the ALCS Board as a Non-executive Director this month. I look forward to contributing to the work of this vital part of the writing world, which means so much to so many people.”
Okechukwu is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Lancaster University and writes poetry, prose and non-fiction. He was the recipient of a Northern Writers’ Award from New Writing North in 2015 and his second novel, Here Again Now, will be published by Dialogue Books in March 2022.
As part of his work on the ALCS Board, Okechukwu will sit on the Distribution and Membership committee and the Advocacy Working Group.
