September distribution 2024: Top facts and figures
Last month, we paid 32,861 members, around a quarter of our members, their share of £12,441,290. We've put together some headline statistics that you might find interesting!
What was the money paid out for? We paid our members for thousands of books and articles and almost two million minutes of TV and radio transmissions.
It’s always great to see new members paid for the first time, last month 1,261 members received their first payment from ALCS!
Where does the money paid to members come from? Our biggest source of money was licenses for schools from the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA), retransmissions of British programmes in the Netherlands, and the use of TV and radio broadcasts in schools.
Hollyoaks and the Archers retained their positions as the highest earning programmes for TV and radio.
ALCS also pays out money for visual art contributions, we’re delighted that the amount paid out has continued to grow each year.
Didn’t get paid in this distribution? September is the smaller of our two distributions, with only around a quarter of members paid. The majority of members are only paid in March.
