Things to do before distribution

Changed your bank details recently? Make sure you update your ALCS account with these details by 9 September to ensure you receive a payment if you’re due one.

Now is also the time to check the works we have for you are up to date. Login to your ALCS account and make sure only your own works have been attributed to you. If you see any anomalies on your account then please do let us know.

Are you due a payment?

If you are, we will:

• send an email to your registered email address to let you know your statement is ready to download.
• add a notification to your online account to let you know that there is a new statement available to download.

If you don’t receive an email and there is no notification in your online account, then you haven’t received a payment this time. It’s worth remembering that this distribution is the smaller of our two distributions and our various income streams can be received by ALCS at different times of the year. We also only make payments to members in the UK of £10 and above (£50 for non-UK bank accounts), so if the amount we have collected for you hasn’t yet reached that amount, it will be held on your account until the payment limit is reached. This will most likely be in our March distribution.

We’re unable to send out any paper statements to members, so you’ll need to log in to your online account to access yours. If you don’t have an online account, please contact us and we can set up one for you.

Where does the money come from?

The September 2021 distribution will predominantly include payments for retransmissions of audiovisual work, photocopying of books in the education and government sectors in both the UK and overseas, along with payments for visual contributions. This is also the first time we will be paying out money that has been collected as part of the AuthorSHARE scheme.

Your statement will include a list of sources against each payment. Take a look at the 2021 Distribution sources guide to help you understand where the money you are due has come from.

Key Dates

• 9 September– final date to tell us about your new bank account and check your works
• 29 September– date we’re making payments (please note it can take a few days for payments to arrive, depending on who you bank with)
